How much are the Cryptocurrency exchange fees?

The exchange fees for Cryptocurrency vary quite a lot. Typically, the largest fee you encounter will be when you convert from your local currency into Cryptocurrency. To convert from one cryptocurrency to another also has fees, but these are usually less. We will specifically focus on fees in the UK in this article – fees for other countries will vary.

Coinbase

  • Buy/Sell = 1.49%
  • Buy using a debit or credit card = 3.99%
  • Bank wise (SEPA) in/out = Free /  €0.15
  • Fee to send to another wallet = Variable, depending on currency. As of today for BTC this is 0.0011 BTC

KuCoin

  • Trading = 0.5%
  • Withdrawal fee = Variable amount depending on currency. Some examples for popular currencies:
    • BTC = 0.0005
    • ETH = 0.01
    • Neo = Free

Example fees for buying

Based on today’s prices. Which is 1 BTC = £9135

  • On Coinbase:
    • Using credit card, buy £200 worth of BTC. Fee of 3.99% = £7.98. Would mean you’ll have 0.0210BTC
    • Send those BTC to your KuCoin wallet. Fee of 0.001 BTC = £10.05. Would mean you will send 0.0199BTC
  • On KuCoin:
    • Convert the 0.0199BTC to Neo. Fee = 0.5% = 0.0000995 BTC = £0.91
  • Total fees = £7.98 + £10.05 + £0.91 = £18.94 (9.5%)
